GCC Top Luxury Travel Agent

Its such an honor to be featured in Conde Nast Traveller as one of the top luxury travel agents in the GCC.

Using a service like Unique Family Travels provides the traveller of today with a certain kind of reassurance, comfort and support that is not readily available in an industry dominated by generic online booking services,” says Wilson Naqvi, who founded a luxury travel agency loved by Emiratis and Saudis in 2018. “This comfort and trust is even more important, because we work with new resorts in new destinations that many travellers may never have even heard of. A huge advantage of booking with UFT is our hotel rates – they’re certainly far cheaper than what will be found on any booking portal. This is achieved by cultivating relationships with hotels so that they understand our client base and want to work with them long-term. Our clients also receive additional benefits like upgrades, complimentary transfers, cuisine tailored to their dietary requirements, complimentary additional nights and – especially important in today’s Covid-related travelling – a practical cancellation policy.

“Despite the pandemic, 2021 has been our most successful year. We booked private islands, large villas and boutique properties in the mountains such as the Dolomites. Multi generation family travel is on the increase, as families want to take holidays together to reconnect after the pandemic. I encourage my clients to experience safari in BotswanaTanzania and Kenya: all ages can enjoy it, and the properties I work with have only five or six villas, which provide safety, space and peace of mind. There’s nothing better than being outdoors, feeling grounded, enjoying wildlife at its best. I also arrange a lot of ladies group travel – over the years we have been to Cape TownThailand and Sri Lanka. My next ladies trip will be to West Hollywood and also Uganda and Rwanda to see the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park.” @uniquefamilytravel

Six Senses Zighy Bay

Nestled in Oman’s dramatic Musandam Peninsula, where rugged mountains dive into the vibrant waters of the Gulf of Oman, Six Senses Zighy Bay provides an exclusive sanctuary set in a rustic environment offering the most sustainable and luxurious experience.

Only an hour and a half drive from Dubai you will reach the Dibba/Oman border. A very straight forward process to cross the border either by a hotel car or your own vehicle.

Leaving the border, there is a short 20 mins drive off road and then up the rugged Musandam mountain face. At the top, you are met with a vista that is hard to describe, picture postcard stuff. We then drop into the bay and drive into Six Senses’s gem of a property.

If you have experienced a Six Senses property before you will know that at their core is preserving the environment and sustainability. This is evident from the moment you arrive at the resort.

Every villa is assigned your personal “Gem” who is on hand via WhatsApp to assist your every need while on the property – nothing is too much to ask.

Villas

Zighy Bay is an all villa resort complete with private swimming pools. The villas architecture and design match in harmony with their natural surrounding all stone and wood.

We had a duplex two bedroom. As you enter your villa, your family bikes are waiting for you at the entrance. On the ground floor is the master bedroom with a huge bathroom and outdoor shower. All the villas on the property come with the biggest and deepest baths which are made out of stone. Through the large glass doors is your private swimming pool, dining area, sun loungers and a large relaxation area under a wooden canopy. Some of the villas open up directly onto the beach while others open up on the sandy path with direct access onto the beach. Upstairs is a large living room with terrace and an additional bedroom with ensuite.

On one end of the beach is a three bedroom villa with a huge pool that goes from the centre entrance of the villa spanning the length of the property. With many sun loungers perfectly positioned to enjoy the ocean view.

Four Bedroom private Residences

On the opposite end of the resort nestled into the side of the rock mountain is the magnificent 4 bedroom residence. This is perfect for large families or multiple families that want to be together yet still offers private sections where the bedrooms are positioned with outdoor seating areas.

As you enter the main building there is a large living and dining room that opens up onto the huge pool and private beach access.

Directly above is the large master bedroom, a seating area, incredible size bathroom with a classic copper bath tub taking centre stage and the most wonderful veranda.

To the right is a separate building with another large bedroom, seating area and bathroom, again with a private veranda providing ocean and pool view. The other two bedrooms offer the same and are the same size.

At the back of the villa is a large out door seating BBQ/dining area next to the mountain face and another building which is a fully decked out games room with cinema, pool table, bar and kitchen.

Dining

In the centre of the resort next to the round shape swimming pool are two Bedouin style restaurants and a open bar /dining area which serve a vast selection of gourmet cuisine. The property caters for all dietary requirements as well as containing a large selection of GF/dairy free items.

Next to the swimming pool is the beach bar with its own menu that is the same at the beach restaurant and bar which is next to the salt water swimming pool at the other end of the resort.

One of my favorite and unique experiences while at Six Senses was sunset drinks at ‘Sense of the Edge” this is the resorts fine dining restaurant and set almost 300m above sea-level on the mountains edge providing the most incredible views of the Gulf of Oman.

We went for sunset drinks and hors d oeuvres. With a freshly chilled glass of rose to enjoy this was such a beautiful moment. I think the altitude got to the twins as they both tried their first ever mussel! I think that may be their first and last time!

There is one night a week where families can enjoy a 3/5 course meal otherwise its adults only as it's a 3 hour fine dining gastronomy of 7 courses served in the most rustic natural environment offering total bliss.

Don't forget to enquiry about the “Destination Dining” starlight dining experience or dine at the Wine Tower and Wine Cellar private dinners

Kids Activities

I honestly believe if the kids are kept busy then the parents get to enjoy a little “alone” time . We felt very comfortable letting the kids cycle around the property and go on their own adventures. They could stop at either of the two main swimming pools, check out the camels at the camel farm or enjoy the large activity area on the beach which is next to the kids club and Earth Lab.

I loved the kids activities as they were all outdoor and made from nature such as the wooden monkey bars, tree stumps climbing, gymnastic bars, tennis courts, badminton, football pitch, sand bowls, table tennis, archery and an electric trampoline.

If your child is in to crafts and experimenting then they must visit “Earth Lab”. The kids made natural soaps with a lavender scent and watched the glass makers recycle a glass bottle into bowls and jewelry. In the kids club the kids can plant seeds, pizza and cookie making, sand art,  indoor and outdoor games to name a few.

Don't forget all the watersports on offer motorized and unmotorized as well as guided snorkeling tours. While out kayaking and paddle boarding early morning we saw many turtles. You can also enjoy a bird’s eye view of the property with a paragliding or microlight experience.

There’s also set timings for camel feeding and camel walking.

Hiking

Being a family who loves hiking and my husband being an experienced hiker and ultra marathon runner – the back drop of Zighy Bay was certainly his ideal playground. For advanced hikers this is perfect but for families its safer to stay on the road and make your way up-to “Sense on the Edge” restaurant and come back down the same way. It's a long steep climb but safe.

Spa

The word Spa and Six Senses go hand in hand. The spa offers everything you expect from a Six Senses property. I had a wonderful massage by my therapist Debbie who started the session with the singing bowl in order to relax your mind and body.

Overall

I always believe as parents if you get to relax on a family holiday its because the kids have been kept entertained and this was certainly the case at Zighy Bay. They simply rode around the property on their little adventures, periodically stopping at the kids club to enjoy the activities and occasionally coming back to where we were to check in on us and ask for food! When we left we asked the kids how they rated the resort and all three said 10/10 – big marks given they can be picky like their mother!

I have to say Six Senses Zighy Bay really ticks all the boxes – its true escapism at its luxurious finest.

Covid 19 regulations

As part of Six Senses’ enhanced global safety standards, all resorts and their outlets will comply with local and country-mandated occupancy limits. Additionally, guests checking in to Six Senses Zighy Bay can expect temperature checks on arrival, hand sanitizing stations placed throughout public spaces and mandatory face masks worn by staff.

A PCR test is required for adults to enter Oman and for Dubai residents you can use the same test report to re enter Dubai.
